Thursday Morning Memo: September 1, 2022
I. Praise and Thanks:
- Thanks so much to Claire Little for the invitation to visit her class during Morning Meeting for a Read Aloud! I appreciate her intentional efforts to build solid classroom expectations.
- Thanks to everyone for your help in supervision with our first Fire Drill! I appreciate the teamwork!
- Thanks to Ms. E. and Jazz Brown for proactive communication and quick solution building! I appreciate their collaboration and action for our mini-Mountaineers.
II. Today's Events:
- 8:30 a.m.-HIKE Kick-Off/Welcome Back Assembly
- 10:20 a.m.-5th Grade Journal Unwrapping
- 1:10 p.m.-2nd Grade Journal Unwrapping
- 1:45 p.m.-Macrow/Smith Journal Unwrapping
- 3:00 p.m.-Faculty Meeting-Testing Training/School Data Share Update
III. Reminders and Updates:
A. HIKE Kickoff/Welcome Back Assembly Today
- We will have a welcome back assembly in the gym this Thursday at 8:00 a.m.
- Our purpose is to kick-off HIKE and build school community together in a fun way.
- Classes will be called down to the gym via the loudspeaker. The assembly will conclude at 9:15 a.m.
B. Independence Day on Tuesday:
- This Friday is the last day for parents to walk students to class.
- Please make sure you communicate this in Class Dojo.
C . Founder's Day Is Also on Tuesday!
- We will celebrate Appalachian State University's founding on this day!
- Please plan to wear your App State Wear and/or Black & Gold. Also, please encourage our mini-Mountaineers to do the same.
- Stay tuned for more details and fun things for this special day!
D. Official School Data Share, BOG Training, Testing Code of Ethics Today after school.
- We will need to gather again as an academy faculty on Thursday at 3:00 p.m. in the Media Center.
- The North Carolina State Board of Education will officially release last year's achievement testing data and school report card grades. I want to share that information with you in person. My portion will be 10 minutes, but it will be the first part of our continuing conversation on boosting academics, one of our academy core commitments.
- Kori Trainor will follow to go over Testing Code of Ethics and provide BOG Training.
E. Hispanic Heritage Month:
- Please see Chantae Reynolds' email on the upcoming Hispanic Heritage Month.
- We need your expertise and gifts. Please consider joining the planning committee and let either Carla Clayton or Chantae Reynolds know.
F. Math Support Pull-Out Groups:
- Selected staff members received an email from Heather Wham regarding small group support for Math. Please follow up accordingly. Thanks!
