III. Reminders and Updates:

A. Faculty Meeting on Tuesday
  • We will have a faculty meeting on Tuesday at 3:00 p.m.
  • Amie Snow will review the new federal funding request process. Jazz Brown will share requirements for supporting homeless students. 
  • Afterwards, we will celebrate Alix Shaver and her upcoming wedding next month!
B. Performance Management Plans: Your Goals for this Year
  • Every full-time faculty and staff member must have institutional and individual goals for this school year. 
  • These goals are the basis for your performance evaluation for this school year. 
  • I will send out a separate email with details on setting your goals on the institutional and individual level along with the deadline. 
  • We will all have the same the institutional goals. Those will be placed in that forthcoming email. 
  • Individual Goals will be set by you but should really speak to our plan for "We Will HIKE Higher."
C. Classroom Walkthroughs:

  • We will be starting Classroom Walkthroughs soon. 
  • You will see classroom walkthrough observers doing joint walkthroughs for inter-rater reliability purposes to insure that we are on the same page. 
  • There are few items to review and then we will celebrate the upcoming wedding of Alix Shaver!

  I. Praise and Thanks: Thanks to Kim Britt and Jessica Hill for integrating Music in their classroom. I heard joyful sounds from our Kinder students! I appreciate the intentional efforts to uplift and motivate our mini-Mountaineers.  Thanks to Carla Clayton and Ayden Tackett for their efforts with our Book Fair! I appreciate the teachable moment they provided to our students on how sales tax is figured in a purchase. What a great way to make learning relevant in support of our Math SIT Goal! II.   Today Is The First Day of Hispanic Heritage Month! I have a copy of the amazing picture book, The Astronaut With A Song For The Stars: The Story of Dr. Ellen Ochoa.  Please let me know if you would like for me to visit your classroom and read it to our students. It's a wonderful and inspiring book about an inspiring Space Pioneer.  See below for the book cover and a sample page from the book: I.
