Tuesday Morning Memo: September 13, 2022

 


I. Praise and Thanks: 

  • Thanks to Matt Hamm and Stephanie Abass for the invitation to visit their classroom for the first compliment party! I enjoyed seeing students engaged and energized in a positive classroom culture. It was wonderful seeing HIKE in action. 
II. Today's Events: 
  • 8:00-8:25 a.m.-Schoolwide Morning Meeting via Zoom
  • 9:00-11:00 a.m.-Newton-Conover Schools Visit
  • 3:00-4:00 p.m.-Faculty Meeting/Alix Shaver Wedding Shower
III. Reminders and Updates:

A. Faculty Meeting Today: We will meet at 3:00 p.m. in the Media Center. Here's the agenda:

B. Professional Goal Setting: 
  • Please be sure to read the email I sent regarding Institutional and Individual Goal-Setting and complete by this Friday. 
C. Safety Reminder:
  • Darron Daniels sent a detailed email with directions and reminders regarding the upcoming emergency evacuation drill. 
  • It is important for you to read over that email and follow up on the directions he's provided.

E. Morning Meeting Reminders:
  • Please remember to follow consistent procedures for Morning Meeting every day during the scheduled time. 
  • Remember to circle up daily with our mini-Mountaineers and implement the curriculum resources we have provided for you. K-1 Classes are using SELF. 2-5 Classes are using Wayfinder. 
  • Investing in meaningful time for this does make a significant positive impact on our mini-Mountaineers. 
F. Classroom Walkthroughs:
  • We will begin classroom walkthroughs soon. Members of the Leadership Team will conduct joint classroom walkthroughs this week to ensure we are on the same page with is observed.

G. Leave Requests: 
  • After I have approved a leave request, Melanie Hicks-Lane will send an email communicating that a leave request has been approved. 
  • As I review leave requests, I may send you an email requesting more information. 
  • Please be sure avoid if possible scheduling appointments during the school day. Being consistently present does have a positive impact on student growth and achievement. I am grateful for any effort you make being present and responsive for our mini-Mountaineers. It does go a long way and your impact matters.
