III. Reminders and Updates:

A. Open Enrollment
  • All Academy employees must complete the required Open Enrollment task even if you were recently hired. Please check your email for directions. We are working on providing you in-person support for you. Stay tuned for a confirmed date and time. 
B. Trading Post Returns This Week
  • Be sure to see Darron Daniels' email regarding HIKE Updates sent on Wednesday, October 19. There is a detailed schedule providing on the upcoming Trading Posts. 
  • The K-2 Trading Post will take place on Monday, October 25. 
  • The 3-5 Trading Post will occur on Tuesday, October 26. 
C. Tuesday's PLTs and Faculty Meeting
  • Adam Haigler of Open Way Learning returns on Tuesday. He will facilitate PLTs and our Faculty Meeting as we continue our Vision and Mission Drafting. 
  • Specialists/EC/ESL Teachers are to choose one of the PLTs to attend.
  • Classroom Teachers are reminded to have Empathy Maps completed with students. Also, students are to vote on one of the vision drafts provided in the email I sent out earlier with the assignment. 
D. 1st Quarter Grading Deadline Reminder: 
  • Here's a reminder on End of Quarter Grading.
  • The deadline to have all 1st Quarter Grades entered into PowerSchool and Report Cards prepared is Friday, November 4 by 10:00 a.m. 
  • I will review each report card for completion and accuracy. If any changes need to be made on the report card, then it will be returned to you by that Monday, November 7. 
  • Report Cards will go home on Thursday, November 10.
E. DreamBox Is Coming
  • We will be moving forward with DreamBox for Grades 3-5. 
  • This resource will assist in providing student achievement growth in Math. 
  • Stay tuned for exciting details on our kickoff with DreamBox. 
F. October 31 Teacher Workday
  • We will have a mandatory teacher workday on October 31. 
  • Dr. Snow and I need some time with teachers to go over some items regarding planning and other instructional items. The rest of the day will be devoted to preparing report cards and/or other things you need to do. 
G. Solutions Building 
  • Stay tuned for a rescheduled date and time for Solutions Building on Scheduling. 
H. Save the Date: 
  • Make-Up Picture Day is November 1.

I appreciate the intentional efforts to uplift and motivate our mini-Mountaineers.  Thanks to Carla Clayton and Ayden Tackett for their efforts with our Book Fair! I appreciate the teachable moment they provided to our students on how sales tax is figured in a purchase. What a great way to make learning relevant in support of our Math SIT Goal! II.   Today Is The First Day of Hispanic Heritage Month! I have a copy of the amazing picture book, The Astronaut With A Song For The Stars: The Story of Dr. Ellen Ochoa.  Please let me know if you would like for me to visit your classroom and read it to our students.
