The Academy at Middle Fork Weekly Memo: October 10-14, 2022

 

I. Praise and Thanks: 

I know you are working hard to ensure that our students are feeling "safe, seen, and stretched." Thanks so much for being good stewards to our mini-Mountaineers and empowering our students to HIKE higher to new heights. Your efforts are appreciated and they definitely do make a difference.

III. Reminders and Updates:

A. Vision/Mission Homework: 

• Classroom Teachers are reminded to work on next steps with students for building Empathy Maps. 
• This is a great activity to work on during Morning Meeting. 
• Classroom Teachers and Specialists are encouraged to collaborate on this activity during Morning Meeting if timing permits. 
• Please see my previous email on this that was sent on the afternoon of October 5th. That email includes the directions and link to the vision statement drafts. 
• This task must be completed by October 25. 
• Adam Haigler of Open Way Learning will return to the Academy on October 25 to facilitate next steps with you on vision/mission statement planning during PLTs and the scheduled faculty meeting. 

B. National School Lunch Week is this week. The theme is "Peace, Love, and Lunch!" Isn't that Groovy? Our cafeteria team will be wearing tie-dyed shirts on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Any kind of card or note for our hard-working cafeteria team from students is appreciated for this week. 

C. Testing Dates: Stay tuned for communication from Kori Trainor regarding the testing schedule for the end of this month. 

D. K-2 Curriculum Night:

• This Thursday, October 13 from 5:30-7:30 p.m., we are hosting the K-2 Curriculum Night. 
• Support Staff and Specialists are to choose either the October 13 Date or the October 20 Date (for 3-5 Curriculum Night) to attend. Please let Heather Wham which night you are attending if you have not done so already. 
• Please consult Heather Wham's September 26 e-mail for more details and directions. 

E. Solutions Building Session #2:

• Have any ideas for solutions for our master schedule? 
• Join Dr. Snow and I for Solutions Building on Thursday, October 13 in the Media Center from 3:30-4:00 p.m.
• We are looking for your ideas! All are invited to participate!

F. Save the Date: October 19 is Unity Day

• Wear Orange on that day in support of bullying prevention.
