  • Congratulations to Valerie Kelly and Ruthie Strausser, two of our App State Student Teachers, on their recent hirings at Moore Magnet and WSFCS Virtual Academy respectively. We wish them both well as they take on these new opportunities!

III. Reminders and Updates:

A. Grade Level-EC Collaboration Meetings
  • On Thursday, all Classroom and EC Teachers will meet to review IEP Accommodations/Modifications for any student shared between the two teachers. Also, the schedule of any EC Service Delivery Time will also be reviewed. 
  • I know that there was discussion and review of this August, but I think it's important that all teachers come together to collaborate on student-centered discussion. I also plan to be a part of the conversation as well. 
B. Spirit Night at Cici's Pizza
  • Please continue to encourage your students and their respective families to attend the Spirit Night at Cici's Pizza from 5-7 p.m. on Monday, November 28. 
  • This is the location on 2857 Reynolda Road in Winston-Salem. 
C. #CelebrateMonday
  • We will continue with another #CelebrateMonday Morning Meeting on Monday. 
  • Moving forward, we are going to shift our Schoolwide Morning Meeting from Tuesdays to Mondays. Thursday's Schoolwide Morning Meeting will still be in place. 
D. Snow/Gaillard Read Alouds
  • Dr. Snow and I will be scheduling Read Alouds on Friday, December 2. We want to give you a break and spend some quality time with our mini-Mountaineers. 
  • Please stay tuned for the schedule on that.

  I. Praise and Thanks: Thanks to Kim Britt and Jessica Hill for integrating Music in their classroom. I heard joyful sounds from our Kinder students! I appreciate the intentional efforts to uplift and motivate our mini-Mountaineers.  Thanks to Carla Clayton and Ayden Tackett for their efforts with our Book Fair! I appreciate the teachable moment they provided to our students on how sales tax is figured in a purchase. What a great way to make learning relevant in support of our Math SIT Goal! II.   Today Is The First Day of Hispanic Heritage Month! I have a copy of the amazing picture book, The Astronaut With A Song For The Stars: The Story of Dr. Ellen Ochoa.  Please let me know if you would like for me to visit your classroom and read it to our students.
