- Thanks to Liliana Martinez, Alix Denny, Amie Snow, and Denise Gallimore for their participation at the Walkertown Holiday Parade! We had some Academy families show up and we enjoyed walking in the parade. It was great visibility for the Academy.

IV. Reminders and Updates:
A. Spirit Week This Week:
- Monday, December 12th: App State Colors/Dress Like Yosef Day
- We will hold a special #CelebrateMonday Morning Meeting Live in the Gym beginning at 8:00 a.m. We will begin to call classes to the gym at 7:55 am and will direct students who are at breakfast and still arriving to the gym
- Tuesday, December 13th: Twin/Triplets/Quadruplets Day
- Find someone or a group of people and dress alike
- Wednesday, December 14th: Wacky Wednesday
- Wear an ugly Holiday sweater, a funny outfit, wacky socks or something else tacky.
- Trading Post: Grades 3rd - 5th
- Thursday, December 15th: Crazy Hat & Hair Day
- Do you have a funny hat or wild hair that you'd like to wear? We'll host a combined Morning Meeting with Elkin, too.
- Trading Post: Grades K - 2nd
- Friday, December 16th: Pajama Day + Books & Buddies
- Finish the week off with Pajama Day and our annual Books & Buddies event in the cafeteria.
B. Holiday Concert This Week
- It's been a few years since the last in-person holiday concert at the Academy. We are having our first one since then this Thursday at 5:30 p.m. All faculty and staff are expected to attend. Our mini-Mountaineers do appreciate seeing us cheer them on at events such as this as do I. If you are unable to do so, then please be sure to let me know as soon as possible.
- April Whitfield has sent out communication regarding combined rehearsal and musical updates. Please remember to read over those emails she sent out last week.
- This will be a great, uplifting event for our school community. Thanks for your support, energy, and flexibility for this schoolwide event!
C. Progress Reports
- Progress Reports are scheduled to go home with students this Thursday.
- Please see Heather Wham's important email on this. She sent that out last Wednesday.
- Thanks for your efforts in providing fair and intentional academic updates on our students' progress.
- Remember that growth is key! Please be sure to highlight any growth that any student is demonstrating in your respective classrooms if it is evident.
D. Public School Partnership Grants
- Please be sure to share with me your grant application for the Public School Partnership prior to submission for approval and proofreading.

F. December 19-21 & January 3 Days:
The December 19-21 Days are "Reserved for Teacher Workdays." We will not be hosting any PD during those days at the Academy. You may opt to do one of the following:
- -You may take those days as Leave Days if you have accrued leave.
- -You may work from home during those days.
- -You may use trade or comp time for those days.
Please let Melanie Hicks-Lane know what option you plan to take for those days so she may have it documented properly for payroll purposes. Melanie needs to your plans no later than Wednesday, December 14.
The building will be open during those days from 8:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. during those dates.
January 3rd will be a required teacher workday. All teacher assistants will report back to work on January 4. More details about the January 3rd required teacher workday will be forthcoming.
