III. Reminders and Updates:

A. Testing This Week: 
  • We begin 2nd Quarter Check-Ins this week. 
  • Please be sure that you have seen communication from Kori Trainor. She sent an email on Friday with a schedule for Specials and Lunch along with directions and reminders. Please be sure to reference that important email. 
  • Kori Trainor has also placed paper copies in mailboxes of those directly impacted by the schedule changes. 
  • The schedule for Specials and Lunch is here as well. 

B. 2nd Quarter Report Cards and Grades:
  • The 2nd Quarter ends on January 26. 
  • There is a teacher workday scheduled for January 27. 
  • All 2nd Quarter Grades are due to Paula Anderson on Monday, January 30 by 4:00 p.m. Grades 3-5 Grade Verification Sheets are due to Paula Anderson as well. 
  • Specialists Grades Due Monday, January 23.
  • Report Cards are schedule to go home with students on February 9
C. Standards Based Grading Survey:
  • Classroom Teachers are reminded to complete the Standards Based Grading Survey by Friday, January 20. Please refer to the email sent by Heather Wham. 
D. #Instant PD
  • All are invited to participate in the upcoming #InstantPD on Thursday, January 19. 
  • It's only 15 minutes! We will meet in the lobby and it's optional. 
  • #InstantPD is 15-minute, teacher-led PD where one idea will be shared. The idea is something that you can use in the classroom the next day. 
  • Denisse Alvarez and Emmy Anderson will lead our first #InstantPD. 
  • Learn a new idea on your way out the door! 

D. Cici's Night
  • We have another Cici's Night scheduled for January 17 from 5:00-7:00 p.m.
  • This is a fun time to enjoy with our families and each other. Please consider coming by if you can. 
  • Kori Trainor sent communication on this and placed flyers in mailboxes. 
E. Hospitality Outing:
  • Please be sure to complete the Hospitality Team's form to RSVP for the upcoming outing in Kernersville. All are invited!
F. Lost and Found:
  • Tables have been set up in the hallway outside the gym/cafeteria. 
  • Please be sure that students are checking there for any lost & found items. The tables will be there until January 19th. 
G. School Calendar Update:
  • We are currently working on updating our School Calendar for the remainder of the year. 
  • Be on the lookout for that calendar to come your way soon along with updates in our Google Calendar. 
  • We are mapping all events, field trips, important dates in a unified way for everyone's information. Stay tuned!

I appreciate the intentional efforts to uplift and motivate our mini-Mountaineers.  Thanks to Carla Clayton and Ayden Tackett for their efforts with our Book Fair! I appreciate the teachable moment they provided to our students on how sales tax is figured in a purchase. What a great way to make learning relevant in support of our Math SIT Goal! II.   Today Is The First Day of Hispanic Heritage Month! I have a copy of the amazing picture book, The Astronaut With A Song For The Stars: The Story of Dr. Ellen Ochoa.  Please let me know if you would like for me to visit your classroom and read it to our students.
