I. Praise and Thanks:
  • Welcome again to Nancy Smoot! She is hitting the ground running and building connections for our kindergarten kids. 
  • Thanks to Joanna Romine and Brittany Hendricks for engaging students with a creative hands-on Valentine's Day Project! I enjoyed visiting the class and making a card, too! 
  • Thanks to April Whitfield for impromptu singing during morning announcements!
  • Thanks to everyone for your creativity and collaboration on the Black History Month Door Decorating Contest! 
  • Fresh mulch is on the playground now and it has been spread!!!

III. Reminders and Updates:

A. February 20th Teacher Workday:
  • The upcoming teacher workday will be a required workday for all certified staff on campus. Teacher Assistants may opt to take leave for this day.
  • During this time, Dr. Snow and I will facilitate a brief morning session from 8:00-9:00 a.m. in the Media Center for all Innovation Committees to debrief and share with other committees along with some Curriculum Updates. The  rest of the day is devoted to planning/grading on an individual and grade level basis in classrooms.
  • Also, 3-5 Teachers will meet to check-in on co-teaching at 12:30 p.m. in Room 100.
  • Darron Daniels has connected with those who will be taking CPR/First Aid Training that is scheduled for that day. If you opted for that training, then please check your email correspondence from him. 
B. Faculty Meeting
  • We will have a faculty meeting scheduled for February 14 at 3:00 p.m. 
  • Amie Snow and I will kick off the meeting with a brief update on our school vision and mission. 
C. EC Conversations
  • Desteney Greene has reached out to grade levels to schedule times for EC and Regular Ed. Teachers to check-in. 
  • Please be sure to follow-up with Desteney Greene on scheduling a time to connect. Thanks!
D. Instructional Items 
  • Please be sure to see Heather Wham's email communication on 100th Day of School, Books & Buddies, ERG's Visit, and Data Conversations. 
  • If you have any questions, then please see Heather Wham. 
  • Also, Amie Snow sent an email with specific items for preparation for Monday's ERG Meeting with Heather Horton to selected staff. 
E. Reading and Math Workshop: 
  • Please remember to keep focused on intentional, small group instruction during Reading and Math Workshop times. 
  • Instruction must be differentiated based upon student needs and any formative assessment data. 
  • Our next round of classroom walkthroughs will focus on small group instruction specifically in reading and math workshops. 
  • Thanks for your efforts to make learning meaningful and engaging for all of our mini-Mountaineers!
F. Literacy Night Planning Meeting:
  • Amie Snow will lead a planning meeting for the upcoming Literacy Night this Monday at 3:30 p.m. 
  • Literacy Night is one of our iconic and important events at the Academy. Please save the date for Thursday, March 2. All certified staff are expected to attend this event.
