III. Reminders and Updates: 

A. Supervision
  • Please remember to keep all students supervised at all times during the day. 
  • Do not leave students unattended for any reason. 
  • Remember to take the red emergency bags with you to the cafeteria and recess. 
  • During class transitions, please be visible, vocal, and vigilant when it comes to student supervision. 
  • Classroom Teachers and Specialists are reminded to adhere to the schedule regarding dropping off and picking up students. 
B. Morning Meeting
  • Please continue efforts to begin the day on a restorative, positive note with Morning Meeting. 
  • Classroom Teachers are reminded to greet all students at the door in the morning. 
  • Specialist Teachers are reminded to push into classrooms after morning duty. 
  • K-1 Teachers are reminded to use the SELF curriculum resources for Morning Meeting. 2-5 Teachers are reminded to use Wayfinder for Morning Meeting.
C. Innovation Update for Monday
  • All certified staff will gather in the Media Center from 8:00-9:30 a.m. for an update on the various Innovation Committees. Click HERE for that meeting agenda.
  • At 10:00 a.m., both Amie Snow and I will facilitate a feedback session on the IPG Grant. This is the grant that we are considering pursuing to fund our efforts with Innovation at the Academy. 
  • Hannah Reeder emailed a video for all staff that provides an overview of the grant. Please be sure to view that video prior to attending the 10:00 a.m. feedback session. 
D. Literacy Night Update
  • Remember to save the date for March 2! This is our schoolwide event for Literacy Night for all Academy Families! All teachers and staff are expected to attend and participate in Literacy Night. 
  • Literacy Night is scheduled to take place on March 2 from 5:30-7:00 p.m. Click HERE for an overview of the Literacy Night Activities. 
  • We will need teachers and staff to sign up for one rotation to help with activities. Click HERE to sign up. 
  • Also, please be sure to connect with Monique Johnson on the Black History Month Wax Museum that will take place on Literacy Night. We have several who have not signed up yet. 
E. Mad About Books Update
  • We are excited to celebrate books for this upcoming month! 
  • Click HERE for an overview of the upcoming events and activities scheduled for this month! 
  • Stay tuned for a special announcement of the author scheduled to visit both lab schools!!!
  • We also have some joint morning meetings coming up in March with sister lab school in Elkin!!!
F. Yearbook Pictures
  • Please be sure to follow up on the request sent by Denise Gallimore and Matt Cooke regarding yearbook pictures. 
  • They need teachers to upload pictures in yearbook folder. Your help is needed to ensure that we have all grades represented in our yearbook. 
  • Please follow up with Matt Cooke and Denise Gallimore if you have any questions. 
G. Spirit Night at Goodness Gracious!
  • We have another school spirit night at a local restaurant. This is great opportunity to enjoy each other's company along with our Academy families. 
  • Goodness Gracious is located on 2600 New Walkertown Road in Winston-Salem. It's not far from the Academy. 
  • The event will take place this Tuesday from 4:00-7:00 p.m.

  Today Is The First Day of Hispanic Heritage Month! I have a copy of the amazing picture book, The Astronaut With A Song For The Stars: The Story of Dr. Ellen Ochoa.  Please let me know if you would like for me to visit your classroom and read it to our students.
