III. Reminders and Updates

A. Classroom Observations & Self Appraisal Window:
  • Amie Snow and I are scheduling our next round of observations. We will be sending out calendar invitations for pre-conferences. 
  • Also, please be aware of the window opening on March 1st for you to work on your Self-Appraisal through App State's People Admin. All must complete the Self-Appraisal by March 31st. Amie Snow and I will send our directions as a refresher to get back into People Admin. This process is tied to your professional goals that you set at the beginning of the school year. 
B. Black History Month Event on February 28
  • The schoolwide walk on the track for #RespectTheAbility will take place on February 28 at 1:00 p.m.
  • We will call down classes by grade level to meet at the track for this walk. 
  • If you have any questions about this event, then please see Monique Johnson! Looking forward to the walk! 
C. Faculty Meeting and Innovation Committee Next Steps
  • Our next faculty meeting will be devoted to Innovation Committees continuing their respective tasks. 
  • All Innovation Committees are to submit their proposals to Hannah Reeder, Amie Snow, and Sean Gaillard by March 1. The Innovation Steering Committee will review and discuss proposals as we all plan next steps together. 
  • Innovation Committee Chairs are to make sure that most of the initial questions from Hannah Reeder are answered in each committee's proposal. 

D. Reading and Math Workshops: 
  • Please continue your solid efforts with providing differentiated small group instruction during this time. 
  • Thanks for sticking to the schedule with these important components to build the academic growth of all of our students. 
E. Literacy Night Update

  • Remember to save the date for this Thursday, March 2! This is our schoolwide event for Literacy Night for all Academy Families! All teachers and staff are expected to attend and participate in Literacy Night. 
  • Literacy Night is scheduled to take place on March 2 from 5:30-7:00 p.m. Click HERE for an overview of the Literacy Night Activities. 
  • We will need teachers and staff to sign up for one rotation to help with activities. Click HERE to sign up. 
  • Also, please be sure to connect with Monique Johnson on the Black History Month Wax Museum that will take place on Literacy Night. We have several who have not signed up yet.
F. Supervision
  • Please remember to keep all students supervised at all times during the day. 
  • Do not leave students unattended for any reason. 
  • Remember to take the red emergency bags with you to the cafeteria and recess. 
  • During class transitions, please be visible, vocal, and vigilant when it comes to student supervision. 
  • Classroom Teachers and Specialists are reminded to adhere to the schedule regarding dropping off and picking up students. 
G. Morning Meeting
  • Please continue efforts to begin the day on a restorative, positive note with Morning Meeting. 
  • Classroom Teachers are reminded to greet all students at the door in the morning. 
  • Specialist Teachers are reminded to push into classrooms after morning duty. 
  • K-1 Teachers are reminded to use the SELF curriculum resources for Morning Meeting. 2-5 Teachers are reminded to use Wayfinder for Morning Meeting.
