III. Reminders and Updates

A. Co-Teaching Initial Trainings:
  • We are welcoming Dr. Christina Tschida this Monday for Co-Teaching Initial Training. 
  • The newly-formed grade spans will meet with Dr. Tschida for our next step into embracing Co-Teaching at the Academy. EC, ML, and Specials Teachers are to pick one of the times to listed above to attend. 
B. Surveys:
  • Please be sure to complete the Tripod Survey sent by Darron Daniels. 
  • Dr. Hannah Reeder also sent an important survey for research on teacher working conditions. 
  • Your participation in this survey is essential and invited. 
C. EOG Testing Training
  • We will have EOG Testing Training on Thursday, May 18. 
  • All EOG Testing Administrators will be required to attend. Kori Trainor will email those who are designated as test administrators with more details. 
D. Steele Children Remembrance
  • All are invited to attend the dedication of the trees in memory of the Steele Children. It will take place on the playground on May 16 at 3:00 p.m.
E. Office of Diversity Read Aloud
  • Jamie Parson returns to the Academy for her read alouds. 
  • This is her last visit to the Academy for the school year. 
  • It would be great if each classroom could create Thank You Cards for Jamie Parson. She has been such a good friend to our Academy community! 
F. End of Year Activities

  I. Praise and Thanks: Thanks to Kim Britt and Jessica Hill for integrating Music in their classroom. I heard joyful sounds from our Kinder students! I appreciate the intentional efforts to uplift and motivate our mini-Mountaineers.  Thanks to Carla Clayton and Ayden Tackett for their efforts with our Book Fair! I appreciate the teachable moment they provided to our students on how sales tax is figured in a purchase. What a great way to make learning relevant in support of our Math SIT Goal! II.   Today Is The First Day of Hispanic Heritage Month! I have a copy of the amazing picture book, The Astronaut With A Song For The Stars: The Story of Dr. Ellen Ochoa.  Please let me know if you would like for me to visit your classroom and read it to our students. It's a wonderful and inspiring book about an inspiring Space Pioneer.  See below for the book cover and a sample page from the book: I.
