The Academy Weekly Memo: January 22-26, 2024
I. Praise and Thanks:
- Megan Garner would like to share a shoutout to Ayden Tackett and Raygan Lloyd. She was observed both supporting and re-directing a student in crisis. Thankful for the student-centered support for our mini-Mountaineers!
- Thanks to Alexa McDonough for facilitating an #InstantPD session at our last faculty meeting. Alexa is to be commended for exemplifying The Portrait element of "being committed to inclusive practices."
- Thanks to Kori Trainor for excellent support and organization of our Check-In Testing. Kori is to be commended for exemplifying The Portrait element of "being a team player who is committed to doing what is best for students."
- Thanks to Elif Erginer for her dedication to fostering and nurturing the Kindness Club. Elif is to be commended for exemplifying The Portrait element of "meeting students relationally before trying to engage academically, seeing each child individually as a whole person, and recognizing their inherent dignity."
- Thanks to Barbara Lewis for her tireless efforts to organize and acclimate our substitute teachers. I Barbara is to be commended for exemplifying The Portrait element of "being committed to the school's vision and mission."

III. Reminders and Updates
A. Reading Workshop Microgoal
- This week marks the beginning of our implementation of Reading Workshop Microgoal efforts.
- Please be sure to adhere to the implementation of the plans.
- Thanks to everyone for openness and dedication on our microgoal! Our mini-Mountaineers will be impacted positively by your dedication!
B. Student-Led Conferences
- We have Student-Led Conferences take place this Thursday and Friday. Thank you for your commitment to implementing a new practice that will enhance student voice and teacher-family collaboration.
- Please be sure to send documentation of parent/caregiver sign sent to Dr. Snow for Title I Documentation purposes.
- Teacher Assistant, Academic Tutors, and 10-month Non-Certifiied Staff are not required to work or come in on these days.
C. Report Cards Due This Week
- All teachers are to have steps completed for 2nd Quarter Report Cards uploaded into Mastery Connect by this Friday at 12:00 p.m.
D. Mid-Year Pulse Check Follow-Up
- This past Friday, I met with members of the Personnel/Human Capital Design Team. We had such a productive and meaningful conversation regarding the feedback from the Mid-Year Pulse Check given in December.
- We have a plan for next steps to share and create solutions based upon that data. This will be shared and discussed at an upcoming faculty meeting in February.
- Special thanks to Caroline CasaSanta, Kaitlyn Marshall, and Tatum Ward for insights and ideas!
